Dutch Championships short course, day 1

The Dutch Championships short course 2008 started for me with the 400m freestyle.

The advantage of a early friday-morning is the fact that there aren't much traffic jams and you are on time at the swimming pool. This time the "battlefield" was at Amsterdam, Sloterparkbad. As usual there was a lot of pre-race practice going on before the championship starts and with so much competitors it's crowded.

No traffic jams on the road, at the pool there were more !
As reported earlier my expectations weren't too high for this championship because of less practice the last couple of months. I have to be happy with every prograss I make. At this first day I have to "perform" once, the 400m freestyle.
Warming-up before the start.
The start was perfect and I came last out of the underwater-phase, the first 100m went a bit to fast. I wanted too much and to quick, that doesn't pay out at the end most of the time.
Good jump of the startingblock.
The middle part of the race was a bit too slow, but by speeding up the last 50m I managed to finish a bit faster then a short time ago. Naturely I wasn't satisfied but "surprised" with the finish time of 4.16,70, I also met the Deafympics time-limit.
