Monthly contribution: my column for AnnieS, a dutch organistion for the deaf.

Purpose of AnnieS is to improve the social entry level for the deaf. Communication possibilities and accessebility of information are mostly a problem. There are in the Netherlands around 100.000 people dealing with this, and one out of ten has hearing problems.

In my column at www.annies.nl I will try to report on everyday situations. Deaf people see other things then "normal" people. Lot's of ordinary situations aren't so normal to deaf people. I see that everyday at school.

Deaf people sometimes have the need of specifick services. Together participating and producing products or to negotiate with companies deaf people are stronger and more powerfull. In this way it's possible to offer good products or services. AnnieS has developed in this manner a offordable new (mobile) text-telephone service.

I hope that my contribution to Annies make other people see how the "deaf world" works and realise that we all belong to one species, called human.
