IYSC Antwerp 2009 day 1

The Antwerp 18th International Youth Swimming Cup started for me with a great record time!

As always, the Olympic 50m pool is something magical for me, I actually always perform well at Antwerp.
My favorite foreign pool !
After so many years have been there, the organization knows me now and the timekeeping with electronic flash is also ready. On this first day, or rather the first evening, only 1 distance was scheduled: 400m freestyle. In advance, I had planned my schedule with my coach, the intention was in any case to swim below the 4.22,20 limit of the Dutch Championships Swimming
On my way to a Dutch Championships limit !
Fortunately I had in the lane next to me a fast competitor, it always makes you a faster swimmer this way. My 50m time was very flat, it gets more and more better every race. Ultimately, I finished second after 4.16,19, so well below the Dutch Championships limit and more than 5 sec. faster than my Dutch record for the deaf. The coincidence is that I swam last year in Antwerp at this distance for the last time a personal best time  (4.21,52). Tired but very happy I walked into the night in Antwerp on my way to the hotel. Day 2 starts for me in the afternoon so I can sleep long and start "fresh" at the 50m butterfly and 100m breaststroke.
